This week’s True Blue HQ Fan of the Week, presented by Barfoot & Thompson, is Paul Alexander (@SportyPaulos)!
Paul epitomises what it means to be True Blue and has even created a dedicated ‘Blues Supporters 4 Life‘ Facebook group to show his passion for the team.
Read more about why Paul is such an avid supporter below.

How long have you been a Blues fan for?
I have been a Blues fan since the inaugural Super 12 in 1996, I even remember Super 10 games in 93,94,95 and have been supporting the mighty Blue n Whites since about 1983-84.
What makes you such an avid fan of the Blues?
I think it’s the passion I have for my team. I support them regardless of how the season maybe unfolding. 2012 was a very tough year to be a Blues fan, but like many others I stuck with the team through the bad times. Putting up with remarks from mates who are not Blues fans just makes me even more TRUEBLUE.
What’s your game day routine, where do you travel from and where do you sit at Eden Park during the match?
Well match day routine depends on if I am working during the day before game. I will usually travel to game from East Auckland (Howick) or the CBD after work. If it’s a day off, then I prepare by making sure jersey is cleaned and hanging up on its own hanger ha-ha… Combined with usually a cap and Blues Bandana (Just got given one by my awesome friend Aroha (Crusaders Fan).
There will be the usual banter with mates, and work colleagues who are fan of Blues opposition. This year, pre-game also includes refereeing Little Blues on Eden Park, a truly awesome experience. I usually sit in North Stand where other Rugby Refs sit, but am now going to make my home along with other TrueBlueHQ Fans most likely UPPER WEST Section 333.
What made you decide to create the Blues Supporters 4 Life Facebook page?
I had seen other pages and wanted to share my passion for being a Blues Fan with other fans. The Blues are my team, and what better way to share my support for them than to have a facebook group (Blues Supporters 4 LIFE).†
Its growing slowly, although in the last 5 weeks has risen from 62 members up to 99 as of Friday afternoon. Some of the members are former Blues players like Joe Rokocoko, Onosai Auva’a, Justin (Gus) Collins, Nela Moa among others.
How do you enjoy using social media to chat with fellow passionate Blues fans and keep up to date with all Blues news?
I love the ability to get instant updates via Twitter and Facebook on what the Blues and their fans are doing. In a way it has broken the walls down that seemed to separate the team from fans like in the early years. Being able to send messages of support to the team and individual players and to even have them respond to you is such an awesome thing.
A huge thanks to Barfoot and Thompson for the awesome opportunity to show my TrueBlue passion with all the other Blues fans.
