Matt Duffie is a former Melbourne Storm and New Zealand Kiwis winger. He returned to Auckland in 2016 with the Blues, impressing on the right wing in his first season with the club.
He excelled at a number of sports while a student at St Kentigern College, playing fullback for the First XV before moving to the Melbourne Storm in 2009, helping the U20 team win the Premiership.
Since Matt’s return to New Zealand he has gone on to be a standout performer for a much-improved North Harbour side in the Mitre 10 Cup. He played a key role in winning North Harbour promotion to the Mitre 10 Cup premiership in 2016.
Matt’s rise continued in 2017, seeing him crossing the try line regularly for the Blues and his provincial union, earning him a spot on the All Blacks end of year tour. Matt played in two games that tour, against the Barbarians at Twickenham, and a French XV.
Matt Duffie has become a mainstay in the Blues backline and played a good hand when moved from the wing to fullback in 2018 Super Rugby season. Amassing 36 caps in his first 3 seasons is a testament to his professionalism and resilience, having struggled with injuries early in his sporting career.
