Rugby fans will get a chance to check out all of the talent in the Blues region with a special game of three-30s at Warkworth later this month.
The Blues along with the provincial teams from Northland, North Harbour and Auckland, will take part in a special Backyard Battle at Mahurangi Rugby Club on Wednesday 20 June.
All four teams will play continuously on the two grounds over three periods of 30 minutes. They will swap opposition after each 30-minute spell.
“The Blues need a game before we resume Super Rugby and it is an invaluable warm-up opportunity for our three provincial unions in the lead-up for the Mitre-10 Cup,” said Blues coach Tana Umaga.
“It is a really good concept and everyone is embracing it. It is beneficial to all teams and also gives us a chance to eye all the talent in our region.”
There’s free entry for the matches at the A&P Showgrounds in Warkworth, kicking off at 6.30pm and running until 8.30pm.
