BEST & FAIREST (Selected by Mediaworks)
5 Points: Jerome Kaino
The captain led from the front with some strong running but some typically bruising defence. He made some telling tackles when it counted most.

3 Points: Dan Bowden
Guided the team around the park in the first half, with some deft kicking and accurate passing. Made a key time to run in scoring the vital first half try.

1 Point: Patrick Tuipulotu
Back to his barn-storming best, a total beast in the middle of the pack, powerful defence, excellent at lineout and like a freight train with ball in hand.

WHAT THE COACH HAD TO SAY:

That gave my heart a real test that was for sure. The team was excellent in the first half and really had to dig deep. We will take an ugly win for sure because the pressure over the last few weeks has been tough.
Sir John Kirwan

WHAT THE PLAYERS HAD TO SAY:
I thought we were excellent in the first half but they fought back well. We got caught playing too laterally and made some silly errors which were costly. That win is so important for us. We can take a lot of confidence from our first half effort and a lot of learnings from what went wrong in the second half.
Jerome Kaino
