The Maori All Blacks faced a rejuvenated Japan side in Tokyo on Saturday. Although the Maori All Blacks left with their 18th win and remain undefeated since 2003, it was not an easy victory.
Japan’s Brave Blossoms kept Maori All Blacks away from the try line for the entire second half – a dramatic display of defence that flew in the face of the home side’s previous 11-try concession.
Blues first five-eighth, Ihaia West, was able to score a penalty and conversion to contribute to the Maori All Blacks scoreline.
The All Blacks also faced a challenging game, this time against England in Twickenham. England made a stunning start scoring a try in the first three minutes and then continuing to score off penalty goals.
England were up by three points at half time, but after a game of attrition, including a yellow card to Dane Coles, the All Blacks pulled ahead. The final try came from Blues prop Charlie Faumuina with eight minutes remaining on the clock.
