Remuera Intermediate stunned us by donating 110 pairs of pre-loved rugby boots to our ‘Best Foot Forward’ programme. Rugby-mad teacher Hayley Buckley organised the three-week collection and said one student had contributed eight pairs of boots and another six pairs. “We’re proud of the way the school banded together to help out other players in our region,” she said.
Kara Pryor, Sam Nock and Declan O’Donnell collected the booty on behalf of the Blues and congratulated Ms Buckley and Head Boy Zaid Bharachi on the school’s effort – the single biggest donation #BluesBFF has received so far. Kara Pryor said 110 pairs, 220 individual boots in all, “was a lot of boots to clean up” for re-distribution, but he reckoned “with Sam scrubbing and Declan doing the laces they’ll be ready in no time.”
Collection bins are available at Eden Park and QBE Stadium. Boots can also be dropped off at the Blues High Performance Centre in Epsom during office hours. For location details: www.theblues.co.nz/bff
