The specialist right wing established himself as a player to watch for a number of provincial sides as well as the All Blacks, earning 19 caps for the latter. He also won a Commonwealth Games gold medal in 1998 with the New Zealand Sevens side, as well as a number of World Cup Sevens medals.

He alternated between the Blues and Crusaders from 1999 to 2007 before moving to play for English side Worcester in 2007 and then retired with the Japanese side Kinetsu Liners in 2014.
