Northland player from Kawakawa who schooled at Mount Albert Grammar in Auckland, earning selection to the NZ Schools side in 2013. He spent some time in England before returning home to captain the Northland Under-19 side. He played in all five games for the New Zealand Under-20 side in the World Rugby Under 20 Championship win in 2015 alongside twin brother Jack. 

The pair went to Lincoln College with Jack remaining to play for Canterbury and now the Crusaders. Josh returned to play for the Northland Taniwha with the 1.99m, 115kg lock a key contributor.
