As our first match of the 2017 Investec Super Rugby season draws ever nearer, media were invited to the competition’s official launch event at the SKYCITY Theatre yesterday.

Players were on hand from all five of the New Zealand Super Rugby clubs, with James Parsons and exciting new signing Stephen Perofeta doing a fantastic job of representing the Blues.

Highlights included a glimpse of the trophy that we’ll be playing for when the season kicks off on 23 February, and a Q&A session with sports presenter Melodie Robinson, who asked Perofeta if he was the next Carlos Spencer.

Meanwhile, Highlanders loose forward Dan Pryor said the team he’d most like to beat this year is the Blues, so that he’d have bragging rights over little brother Kara.

But it looks like he’ll have to wait until the Blues play the Highlanders in Dunedin on 8 April, as he’ll likely be sidelined due to injury when we host the Highlanders in our first home game of the season on Saturday 11 March.

Tickets to all Blues home matches are available here.
